Q&A: Honest Brew
As we hunker down in the comfort of our local, sheltering from the elements in front of an open fire, we also seek solace in our food and drink. Taking on a more seasonal theme, this volume features personal essays, recipes and reports from the winter beer scene.
Chef Craig Ballinger takes us on a personal exploration of sessional sustenance, exploring why, despite the breadth of fermented talent, we’re confined to bar snacks which fail to reciprocate in both taste and quality.
This volume spans two of the nation's capitals, exploring Cardiff’s emerging brewing scene before crossing back over the Severn where we’re welcomed into London’s Five Points Brewing Co. Whilst reflecting on the year that has been, we also look forward, introducing some of the fledgling talent to watch out for over the next twelve months.
And from warming porters to warmer climates, we cross the equatorial threshold and catch up with Nicci Peet’s Caught on the Hop - a photography project looking at women’s influence on New Zealand’s brewing resurgence. We hope you enjoy reading this issue, and find comfort in its musings during these cold nights.
